Google Fit heart rate and respiratory rate measurement features for Pixel phone users: how to use them
The Google Fit app is now rolling out the ability to measure heart rate and respiratory rate via phones. These new features are only rolling out to Pixel phones at this time, but the company has reportedly confirmed that it will “expand to more Android devices in the future.” Google announced these new heart rate and respiratory rate measurement features for the Google Fit app last month. The company then promised that Pixel phones would get it first, and the rollout has now reportedly started.
Last week, the tech giant announced via a blog post that it will deploy the ability to measure respiration and heart rate on supported Pixels phones via the Google fit application from next week. He just published a video tutorial on how to use the new features, and even has confirmed to 9to5Google that the rollout began on Monday. In a report, Google says “We are deploying the ability to measure your heart rate and respiratory rate with Google Fit using just your phone’s camera.” These features are first available in the Google Fit app for Pixel phones, and will be extended to other Android devices in the future. “
The video tutorial shows what users need to do to measure heart rate and respiratory rate using the Google Fit app. Make sure you have the latest version of the app to be able to use the new features. Click on the heart rate icon that appears on the home screen, offer all the required permissions and place your finger on the rear camera covering the entire lens. The app will then detect your pulse and offer you results based on the data it collects.
To measure the respiratory rate, click on the corresponding icon on the home page, give all the permissions and place the phone in a tilted position so that it can detect your whole body from the waist up to the start of the measurement. Start breathing and let the camera monitor your chest movements to detect your respiratory rate. The results are then displayed on the app, which can be saved for later diagnosis.
As mentioned, this is currently only for Pixel phone users, and eligible users can download the Google Fit app from the Google play store.
