Love Island 2021: Liberty Poole discusses the “intimate chat” with Hugo
Liberty Poole brought up rumors of a supposed “secret conversation” between herself and fellow Love Island competitor Hugo Hammond during a question-and-answer session with Instagram followers over the weekend.
The ITV2 show crowned Liam Reardon and Millie Court the winners on Monday night, after beating Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran for the title.
But fans of the show have also become very attached to candidate Liberty and her friendship with Kaz Kamwi, despite the premiere’s relationship with Jake Cornish not working out.
Liberty, who decided to bow out alongside Jake just days before the finale, has now sat down with her Instagram followers and explained what really happened with Hugo.
“That intimate conversation,” Liberty said with a laugh, “It was literally me and Hugo sat down like,“ What are you doing with yourself? “Blah blah blah.
“It was very just friends, there was no sexual chemistry between us and I love Hugo as a mate, but that’s all the conversation was.”
She reaffirmed what she felt in the caption of the video, which read: “All the love for Hugo but we are only friends [heart emoji]. ‘
It came after Hugo recently shocked viewers by claiming that the talks with Liberty were not aired in order to “protect Jiberty”.
The star, who has posted a series of posts on TikTok since leaving the villa, posted a video with the text: “When Lib Invites You to Chat After Jakey wanted to know Millie but the show didn’t. not released to protect “Jiberty” and now it’s happening. ‘
He wrote in the caption: “Imagine what could have been”.
Hugo said in the comments, “I’m not sure why it never aired. But that’s my guess.
Jake and Liberty went their separate ways just before the last four couples were decided, abruptly leaving together on good terms after their last date in the villa.
After her release, Liberty opened up about how the clip shown to her on the infamous Love Island Movie Night really affected her relationship with Jake.
She told The Sun: “The clips hurt me, which was said, and I kind of swept it under the rug and didn’t treat it right and one thing led to another, where this has become a bigger problem.
“And then we discovered that there are differences between us in the way we see things and communicate about things. We just didn’t communicate the same way we used to.
During her Q&A, Liberty then opened up about how she felt seeing her friends Millie and Liam win the title earlier this week.
Responding to a fan who asked her about the result, she said: “All of the couples who stayed on Love Island were so, so strong and they had their own different connections, but they were all great together.
“I think Millie and Liam are honestly soul mates, being around 24.7 they are meant for each other.
‘So I’m glad they won, but none of them [couples] deserved to win.
