Mold | On Wigan bonus point, young stars and a penalty stop
Moulden made a crucial penalty save in the bonus penalty shootout after a very young Wolves side – made up of several under-18s from Steve Davis – held an unbeaten League One Wigan Athletic side in their last six matches in all competitions. a goalless draw.
On winning two points, Wolves are in second place in Northern Group B, but the keeper is already considering Friday’s Premier League Cup clash with West Ham United, Division 1 of PL2.
At the start of the campaign with a bonus point
“First of all, coming here with a very young team is difficult. There are a lot of boys out there who have never played these kinds of games before.
“But every young boy here tonight has done well. I thought some of the more experienced players were showing a lot of leadership, but the younger ones did really well.
“It was a very good start to the campaign, and now it’s a very quick turnaround for Friday; resumed tomorrow, training Thursday then we leave against West Ham. It’s good.”
On Collins’ pride in the team
“He was just impressed with the boys. You can’t blame the youngsters tonight, each of them gave 100% just like the more experienced guys.
“The game plan worked really well and it’s thanks to James and his team for bringing this forward, but everyone did their job tonight and everyone deserves all the credit.”
On playing a senior EFL team
“It’s tough. They bring different challenges; they’re more physical, they’re more direct and we’re not used to playing. Having the boys experience that at such a young age is going to be really beneficial for them.
“For me it wasn’t that physical, it was a different kind of game for me tonight, it was more about managing the game, making a few saves in the first half and then the penalties – but they are what they are. “

By making a crucial penalty save
“I have good information about Scott [Fry, goalkeeping coach] and the team and luckily it’s gone.
“It wasn’t a guess. We don’t go into the games with guesses. We plan these things and review them, and it’s great when that happens.
“Although it’s not a victory, it’s like a victory after a penalty shootout.”
