Celebrity Water Bottles are O.K.?
My wife and I were traveling back from OGG-ORD via SFO on 8/10 which was the first day of the new security procedures. We were sitting in 3A/3B having our pre-departure beverage and noticed Dave Chappelle sitting in 1A drinking his pre-departure drink - a bottle of water! I assume the crew was alerted that a VIP was on board because not only did they not do/say anything, he was able to have seat reclined and headrest up during takeoff. However, my wife was chastised by the Pursor for having her hand-held yahtzee game on as we were getting ready to taxi.
You can't really blame Dave, but how can the crew justify this within the first 24 hours of the new security procedures?

I know him, he's crazy. Don't wanna mess with him!
Was Charlie Murphy with him?
and do you think celebritys are gonna be a terrorist?
If his name was Mohamad or Ali Chappelle, I would then be worried.

Well that is just sofa king wrong! If I (American tax payer and productive member of society) have to put up with security policies then some over paid, over pampered, celebrity should as well. What you can act, well BFD, put your seat back up, lower your head rest and follow the rules like the rest of us, who incidentally actually provide value to society.

Honestly, I would have been so excited about seeing Dave Chappelle that I probably wouldn't have noticed his transgressions (which I agree is what they are)!
Returning to BUR from PHX on an HP/US flight on Monday I noticed that my seatmate had smuggled aboard a bottle of DaSani water, presumably in his backpack. I thought about saying something to him, but didn't bother with it. Should I have? I think I was too upset about having just lost my iPod on another flight to bother with it (and he didn't really look all that frightening).

It was Dasani, so I'm not thinking that our Pepsi-friendly airline was providing this particular refreshment.
I actually noticed the water bottle first and then my wife noticed who it was!

If you can't really blame Dave, and didn't want to blame him, then I don't think it was necessary to actually name him here. Simply saying "a celebrity that won't be named, in order to avoid blaming him". Otherwise, he's blamed.

I was cross aisle from Jesse Jackson in row 1 of F flying ORD-DTW last summer. The woman next to him had a small purse and she was rudely chastized for having it there before JJ boarded.
He had a large briefcase and papers that remained at this feet and he also tossed the blanket and pillows into the aisle.

I don't care who they are. They should follow the rules just like anybody else. But some people get intimidated by celebrity and don't enforce the rules on them. This is just wrong. If you know for sure he did not get it from the FA then say something. Celebrities and athletes are just overpaid people, nothing special.

What if you get a full bottle of water from a nice FA on a mainline flight, put it into your bag then transfer to a Ted flight? Without opening the bag to check, you wouldn't know how much is in there. Schrodinger's Water Bottle!
